Balsam Family Project (BFP) is a local Christian charity, established in 2009, with a vision to create a sense of community for families, providing the guidance and support that tackles the root causes of issues like the cycle of family breakdown and deprivation.
BFP operates from Didcot Methodist Church for our Parenting & Home Management College Courses and Thursday Family Days. For other Family Days see Social Events - Bulletin
BFP supports families who recognise their need for help with :
- Positive parenting
- Home management
- Management of personal finances
- Building links with their own community
- Building up self confidence and life skills
27 Families are currently being supported by BFP trained staff and volunteers. BFP remains committed to every family for the long term, to help each one to live independently and successfully in their own community. BFP aims to help build the self-esteem and confidence of parents to help families tap into local resources, build relationships and have fun together. They are helped to learn the skills necessary to live well together and confidently handle their children in positive ways.
Most families self-refer on advice from friends, professionals or word of mouth. Referrals also considered directly from professional bodies.
BFP is a registered charity governed by a board of six Trustees with extensive collective experience in social services, industry and allied professions.
